Welcome to the “This is NOT OK" Movement

Together, we can build a community where respect, empathy, and resilience thrive, and toxic behaviors are not tolerated.

Join us in saying "This is NOT ok"

Our Mission

To empower parents and teens to navigate the complexities of modern life by fostering empathy, respect, and resilience. Through education, support, and community, we aim to build stronger, healthier relationships and create a culture where toxic behaviors are not tolerated.

Toxic 10 Behaviors

As a parent, I commit to taking a stand against the Toxic 10 behaviors that are harming our teens. I pledge to educate myself, support my child, and promote a safe and respectful environment for all teens. Together, we can make a difference.

  • Using physical or verbal aggression to intimidate, humiliate, or control someone, often involving a power imbalance, either in person or through digital platforms. This behavior may be repeated or have the potential to be repeated over time.

  • Involves displaying hostile or violent behavior towards others, such as hitting, kicking, pushing, shoving, or using any form of physical force to harm, injure, or intimidate.

  • Sending explicit messages or images to someone without their consent, often causing discomfort, distress, or emotional harm.

  • Sharing intimate images or videos of someone without their consent, often as a form of retaliation, humiliation, or control.

  • Using AI technology to fabricate images or videos of someone with the intent to deceive, manipulate, or harm their reputation.

  • Treating someone as an object rather than a person, focusing on their physical appearance.

  • Ranking individuals based on their physical appearance.

  • Criticizing or mocking someone’s body size or shape and shaming someone for their real or perceived sexual behavior or appearance.

  • Using emotional tactics to control, exploit, or harm someone (includes behaviors like love bombing, using someone for physical intimacy under false pretenses, and betrayal in relationships).

  • Cheating on someone or other actions that involve deceit and breach of trust.

Pledge Against the Toxic 10

The Parent Pledge

I acknowledge that the Toxic 10 behaviors have a profound impact on individuals, especially on young minds. These behaviors are morally wrong, reflect an inability or unwillingness to treat another human with respect, and demonstrate a lack of empathy. Recipients of these behaviors can develop mental health issues such as low self-worth, low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. As a responsible adult, I understand the importance of addressing these issues early and decisively. By signing this pledge, I commit to:

Talk to My Teen:

I will have open and honest conversations with my teen about the Toxic 10 behaviors.

Educate on the Impact:

I will educate my teen about the harmful effects of these behaviors, their moral implications, and the importance of treating others with kindness and respect

Spread the Word:

I will spread the message that these behaviors are not OK to other parents, caregivers, coaches, and community members, fostering a community of awareness and prevention.

Model Positive Behavior:

I will actively teach and model empathy, respect, and integrity, encouraging my teen to understand and value the feelings and experiences of others.

Create a Supportive Environment:

I will create a supportive and understanding environment where my teen feels safe to discuss their experiences and feelings.
